About Pedro “Spear” Torres
International street, mural, and digital artist. Started painting graffiti in 1996. In 2001 studied graphic design (Magna Cum Laude), worked in print and sign shops, and later on freelanced art direction. In 2004, co-founded the art collective El Corográfico (El Coro), the first Street art collective in Puerto Rico.
Known for his commission works for Lyn Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton the musical, Daddy Yankee, Annuel AA, Facebook, Volvo, The Art Museum of Puerto Rico, and the design for the new can of Mountain Dew in Puerto Rico, among others.
Torres has showcased his artwork in cities like Paris, Tokio, Curitiba, Habana, New York, and Miami, among other. Pioneer at the international reference street art festival “Santurce es Ley” ( I, II, II, IV & VI ), “Los Muros Hablan ( I & II ) and “Feria de Cultura Urbana” ( I, III & V ). Also participated in “Colors” at the Pompidou Centre in París, “Wynwood Walls” (2011, 2012 and 2013), and Pow Wow Worcester 2018.
As he developed, found himself crossing disciplines in a time when it wasn’t very common, trendy, and well accepted in the art scene. In his artistic proposal, the anthropological, philosophical and metaphysical thematic predominates, wish is expressed through the use of symbols and high contrast geometric graphics, wish meets with his origins of graffiti aesthetics and techniques.
