About Isabel Ferré Sadurní
“I’m an upbeat, friendly Puerto Rican globetrotter, introspective writer, and nature photographer bringing forth an empathetic, well-rounded attitude and global perspective into the field.
I have an immense appreciation for nature’s beauty, symmetry and balance, and people’s cultures and stories. The interconnectedness of my disciplines drives me to understand the interdependent relationship humans and nature have in our world. As an emerging photojournalist and nature photographer, I consider myself an introspective, passionate soul who takes the world through the senses by traveling, exploring, and immersing myself in nature and new cultures. I thrive in environments that question my ideas and beliefs; testing my limits by putting myself in physical and mentally challenging situations.
The root of my curiosity and inspiration germinates on small details. I believe these little things in life are valuable key-holders that shouldn’t be disregarded. They portray patterns that hold the greater picture of an untold story or phenomenon revealing the fundamental, integral and essential aspects of entities and life. The macro in the micro… The micro in the macro… I integrate this repetitive theme throughout my life fostering inspiration and perspective while nurturing patience and mindfulness.
Through nature photography and writing, I hope to restore humanity by uniting people to fall back in love with Earth and fall back in love with their life. By doing this, I wish to plant a seed of awareness to protect and be empathetic for each other and our planet. By showcasing our planet’s beauty and personal insights through my work, I seek to inspire change to occur from within as love to yourself, so this love can be effortlessly expressed outwardly towards other beings & entities — for the sake of humanity, for the sake of our planet, for the sake of our existence…
I hold a B.S. in Cultural Anthropology and Sociology from Northeastern University located at the heart of Boston, Massachusetts. I was able to alternate semesters between work and study in which I completed mostly abroad. I have a distinctive global perspective and a myriad of global work experience in the creative fields, including photography, journalism, videography, art direction, project management & coordination/logistics, research & grant writing. I have lived in England, Spain, Panama, Argentina, South Africa, New Zealand, and Boston, USA; and I have traveled to 43 countries.
I have been mentored by and worked closely with photographers, such as Ulla Lohmann, Fiona Ayerst, Colby Brown, Michael Bonacore, Dennis Rivera Pichardo, Lina Collado, Brett Monroe & David Beniluz.
I am currently on a part-time contract as a freelance photographer and writer for GFR Media, recurrently being published in El Nuevo Día & Primera Hora, the two main newspapers in Puerto Rico, for the special editorial project: SOMOS Puerto Rico, showcasing the voices and biodiversity of all 78 municipalities that make up the island. I am covering a different municipality every two weeks. Thus far I have published the biodiversity and coffee agriculture of ten municipalities. I am currently on assignment for the upcoming one.
My profession is my passion, mission & vocation. Grateful.”
