About Melissa Vargas
A young artist named Melissa Nicole Vargas Flores was born on January 3, 1994. She was raised in Lajas, Puerto Rico. As a young girl her grandmother inspires her to use his hands and his creativity to express her emotions and thoughts. After Melissa graduates high school she moves to Santurce to study in the University of Sacred Heart. She was inspired by the art that surrounds and invade the city of Santurce. Melissa finally decides to dedicate her life and passion for art.
Melissa Nicole Vargas Flores has participated independently in events like “Los Muros Hablan in Río Piedras”, “Santurce es Ley” and creating murals without sponsoring only for love towards art and the community. Besides this events Melissa has present her works in different independent exhibitions like in the University of Sacred Heart, the Museum of Art of Puerto Rico and the galleries of the Puerto Rican Culture Center in New York. In 2012, Melissa receives in his hometown Lajas a recognition for her labor in the arts and for be an example for the Puerto Rican youth. One of her most recent works was a collaboration with the designer David Antonio and Sajo Ruiz of the company SAG to create a mural with the sponsoring of the Glidden brand.
In the present Melissa continue to resides in Santurce finishing her studies in Visual Arts in the University of Sacred Heart. Melissa is one of the resident artists in the project “Generación Reactiva”.
