About Howard Orsini
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, his interest in art started in his early childhood when he studied drawing in elementary school. Holds a Bachelor in Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica de Ponce. He furthered his training in fine arts through a series of specialized workshops in such prestigious institutions as the Museo de Arte de Ponce and Centro Sor Isolina Ferre, among others.
Since his early beginning Orsini demonstrated special talent for drawing, specially the human form. Encouraged by his teachers this journey led to a predilection for figurative art. He worked extensively with landscapes constructed with tangible emotions and existentialist’s interrogatives, sometimes even flirting with surrealism. But it is in the human form, specially the feminine figure, where the artist is most eloquent at. His paintings are a commitment to human behavior; emotional expressions and whatever path his intuition takes him guided by brush strokes filled the vibrant colors of desire, joy, love and freedom.
In fact, his most recent work consists of large format paintings with iconic feminine figures unusually posed, particularly elongated and lovingly close to their faces, their features, their eyes where he longs to portray a glimpse of life itself. The color scheme of his native Caribbean makes the “faces” even more alluring.
Orsini has exhibited extensively both individually and collectively throughout the Island, and internationally in France. His paintings are present in some of the most important corporate art collections on the Island. Also, his work is sought by important individual collectors, which include several international renowned personalities from the sports and arts & entertainment industries.
